I’m a menswear designer from India and the founder of Ochre Pierre. For years, I designed for established fashion houses. I learned from talented people, worked on collections that reached the world, and grew as a designer. But somewhere along the way, I realized I had never truly discovered what my own name stood for. Ochre Pierre was born from that question. I didn’t start this brand because the world needed another clothing label. I started it because I wanted to create clothing that felt honest—pieces made with patience, natural fabrics, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a quieter idea of luxury. I believe comfort is the purest form of luxury. I believe the hands that make a garment matter just as much as the garment itself. And I believe clothing should stay with us long enough to become part of our memories, not just another trend. Every collection is my way of bringing together Indian craftsmanship and timeless menswear through a modern, understated lens. This is only the beginning. THE NAME
Why Ochre Pierre?
Ochre is one of the oldest pigments known to humanity. Drawn from the earth, it represents warmth, nature, permanence, and the raw beauty found in imperfect things. It reminds us that the most enduring colours are often the ones created by nature.
Pierre, the French word for stone, represents strength, longevity, and quiet confidence. Like stone, true craftsmanship is shaped over time—patiently, intentionally, and meant to last.
Together, Ochre Pierre reflects the meeting of earth and endurance, softness and strength, Indian craftsmanship and European refinement. It is the philosophy that guides everything we create.

If someone truly wanted to understand Ochre Pierre, where would you ask them to begin?
Creating has always been my language. Not because I wanted to build a brand, and not because I wanted to work for one. It was always about the joy of making something that didn’t exist before. Every creation begins as a thought, shaped by curiosity, observation, and countless lessons—both learned and unlearned. For me, creating is a form of therapy. It’s where everything becomes quiet. The moment an idea leaves my mind and slowly takes shape through my own hands, I feel most like myself. I find beauty in the smallest details—in textures, imperfect lines, fading colours, forgotten places, and the stories hidden in everyday things. Observing them, understanding them, and transforming them into something meaningful is what brings me peace. That’s why I’m drawn to handcrafted work. To pieces that are made thoughtfully, patiently, and with intention. Pieces that carry the fingerprints of the people who created them.
Machines can produce faster than we ever could. But they cannot replace perspective. They cannot replace emotion. They cannot replace the imagination that comes from a human mind. Creativity is the one thing that remains untouched. It is deeply personal, impossible to replicate, and beautifully imperfect. And maybe that’s why I keep creating. Not to make more things, but to leave behind pieces that carry a little part of how I see the world.
What does luxury mean to you?
As I began building this brand, I realised it was never just about clothing. It was about how clothing makes you feel.
I’ve always believed that comfort is the purest form of luxury. Most men don’t chase fashion—they look for pieces they can truly live in. Pieces that feel effortless, breathable, and natural against the skin. I understand that because I’m the same. I don’t enjoy wearing anything that feels heavy or restrictive. When the body feels free, the mind feels lighter. Comfort isn’t just physical; it’s emotional.mThat belief became the foundation of everything I create. I want to design garments that move with the person wearing them. Clothes that breathe, that age beautifully, and that become part of everyday life rather than something reserved for occasions. Luxury, to me, isn’t about excess—it’s about ease.
Why was it important for you to build Ochre Pierre around Indian craftsmanship?
At the same time, I find myself constantly inspired by India. Few places in the world possess the depth of craftsmanship that exists here. Every region carries its own language of textiles, weaving, embroidery, dyeing, and handwork. These traditions have been passed from one generation to the next, not through machines, but through human hands, patience, and dedication.I don’t believe our greatest strength lies only in the techniques we have inherited. I believe it lies in the people behind them.The artisans who wake up every morning to create. The craftspeople who choose to preserve their skills instead of taking the easier path. The families who have spent generations perfecting an art that asks for patience, precision, and love. Their work deserves more than appreciation—it deserves recognition.This brand is my way of honouring them. I want to bring their craftsmanship to the world without changing its soul. What do you hope someone feels when they wear an Ochre Pierre piece?
Because while machines can replicate products, they can never replicate human intention. Every handcrafted piece carries something invisible—a story, a touch, a lifetime of experience. And that’s what I want people to wear. Not just clothes. But the work of human hands, the richness of Indian craftsmanship, and the belief that true luxury will always begin with people.
Why did you feel this brand needed to exist?
I never started this brand because the world needed another clothing label. I started it because I felt we were slowly forgetting what clothing was meant to represent. Fashion moves faster than ever. New collections appear every week, trends disappear overnight, and somewhere along the way we stopped asking who made our clothes, how they were made, and what they truly meant. I didn’t want to contribute to that cycle. I wanted to create something that encouraged people to slow down. What many of us wear every day is the result of countless invisible hands. A spinner begins with raw fibre. A dyer patiently transforms the fabric. A block printer repeats each impression by hand. An embroiderer spends hours placing every stitch. A tailor gives the garment its final form. By the time one piece reaches you, it has already travelled through generations of knowledge, patience and craftsmanship. Yet the people behind those stories are often forgotten. We celebrate the finished garment, but rarely the hands that made it possible.
This brand is my way of changing that. Not by speaking for artisans, but by creating work that honours them. By bringing India’s extraordinary craft traditions into a modern wardrobe without asking them to lose their identity.
If Ochre Pierre stands for anything, I hope it stands for this: that clothing can still carry meaning, craftsmanship deserves recognition, and the things made slowly often stay with us the longest.

Why menswear?
It started with a feeling. Every time I wore a shirt, I felt different. I felt stronger. Freer. More like myself.
There was something about the simplicity and structure of a men’s shirt that gave me a quiet sense of confidence. It never felt restrictive. It felt effortless—like I could move, create, and simply exist without thinking about what I was wearing. That feeling stayed with me. I realised I didn’t just love designing menswear; I loved what it represented. Ease over excess. Confidence without noise. Clothes that become a part of your life instead of demanding attention. That’s why I started with men’s shirts. Because if a single garment could make me feel that way, I wanted to create that feeling for someone else too.

Every Ochre Pierre garment begins with a conscious choice. We carefully source fabrics that favour natural fibres such as linen, cotton, and silk whenever possible, selecting materials for their character, comfort, and longevity. From there, each piece passes through the hands of skilled artisans who print, embroider, stitch, press, and finish every garment with patience and precision. What you wear is the result of many people working together. The block printers who carefully place every motif, the embroiderers who spend hours bringing each detail to life, the tailors who shape every silhouette, and the finishers who inspect every piece before it leaves the workshop. For many of them, this craft is more than a profession—it is a tradition, a source of pride, and a livelihood that supports their families and helps preserve generations of knowledge.
